What to Expect When Working With a Web Design Agency
If you've never hired a web agency before, the process can feel like a black box. You reach out, something happens, and eventually a website appears. Here's what actually happens at each stage — and what we need from you to keep things moving.
Stage 1: Discovery Call (30 Minutes)
Before any work starts, we have a short call to understand your business, your goals, and what you need the site to do. We'll ask about your services, your customers, any sites you like the look of, and your timeline.
This is also your chance to ask questions. No commitment required at this stage.
Stage 2: Proposal & Agreement
After the call, we send a written proposal: scope of work, price, timeline, and payment terms. For most projects it's 50% upfront, 50% on launch. Once you approve and the deposit is paid, we get to work.
Stage 3: Content Collection
This is often the stage that causes the most delays — and it's in your hands. We'll ask for:
- A list of your services and pricing (if applicable)
- Any photos you have (logo, team, location, work examples)
- Your contact details, hours, and service area
- Any specific pages or features you want
We write the copy — you just need to give us the raw information. The faster you provide this, the faster your site launches.
Stage 4: Design & Build
We design and develop the site. You won't see anything until we have a solid draft ready — usually within 1–2 weeks for a Starter site, 2–4 weeks for a Business site. We build on a staging URL so you can preview it before it goes live.
Stage 5: Review & Revisions
You review the draft and give feedback. We include 1–2 rounds of revisions depending on your package. "Revisions" means changing colors, copy, layout, or adding pages — not a full redesign. Be specific with your feedback ("make the heading larger" is better than "it feels off").
Stage 6: Launch
Once you're happy with the site, we connect it to your domain, run final checks (speed, mobile, forms, SEO), and launch. The remaining 50% payment is due at this point.
Stage 7: Post-Launch Support
Every package includes a post-launch support window (30, 60, or 90 days) to handle any issues and make small adjustments. After that, you can continue with a maintenance plan or on-demand hourly support.
Tips for a Smooth Project
- Respond to questions and feedback requests quickly — delays compound
- Collect your content before the project starts, not during
- Consolidate feedback from all decision-makers before sending revisions
- Trust the process — we've done this before
